Crecent Moon

By the Light of a Silver Moon

Miscellaneous Poetry

A selection of my non spiritual poetry.

Dancing in a moonless night
Dancing under stars so bright.
The moon is new overhead,
Our love shining in its stead.
Just dancing, our love so bright
Forever dancing in a starlit night.

This poem was written while I was questioning my gender and
was a big part of why I now use genderqueer to describe myself.

What does it mean to be a woman
Is it a label given or self determined
is it sticky blood from my cunt
flowing once a month
is it my breasts, my high voice
found in XX or is it all in my mind
Is my gentleness female?
Or my empathy, my healing creative touch?
Or is it simply me saying
I am Woman
Even though if asked
I'd simply respond, "I guess?'

Round and round
Our lives go
Like a circular dance.
Love and hate
And love again
Dance the eternal dance.

Up and down
Our lives go
Like the mountains above.
Life and death
And life again
Use the path of chance.

Under the moon
We hold each other.
Under the stars
We kiss.
In the darkness
We love each other,
Baring our hearts
To one another,
And becoming one
For life.

Days flow by
like water in a palm
slipping through fingers

Drip drip...

Drip drip...

Gone.

I wrote this poem after a nightmare I had during the height of the Covid pandemic.

I dreamt of fire
blanketing the world
A thousand voices screaming
Under this scourge.

I dreamt of false prophets
their tongues bearing lies
Safe in their shelters
as everyone dies.

I dreamt of a tower
so strong and renowned
but still the lightening
brought it crashing to the ground.

I dreamt of a dove
it's feathers white as snow
carrying an olive branch
Small hope for those down below.

But how do we put out the fire?
How do we stop their lies?
Where's the dove to guide us
from these disturbing times?
I awoke with no answer
as the tears fall from my eyes.
